Learn about His Royal Highness The Prince of Kaharagia.
The Sovereign is the head of state and nation of Kaharagia. The office gives the Kaharagian nation a single, accountable representative in whom the continuity and unity of the State are vested. It is neither personal rule nor mere ceremony: sovereignty is understood as a trust, exercised for the common good and within the constitutional order.
Accordingly, the Sovereign safeguards the lawful order of the State, upholds its institutions, and serves as a steady public voice in national and external affairs. The Sovereign also acts as custodian of Kaharagia's cultural and linguistic patrimony, ensuring that the nation's identity is preserved with care and integrity.
What follows sets out the role, responsibilities, and functions of the Sovereign in Kaharagian public life.
The Sovereign is the personal embodiment of the nation's continuity and the constitutional head of the Kaharagian State. In this role, the Sovereign:
The Sovereign does not exist to rule over persons for their own sake, but to serve the nation as its first citizen, to protect its institutions, and to ensure that authority remains a trust exercised for the common good of the Kaharagian people.
Prince Maximilian, born on 23 October 1990 in Detroit, Michigan (United States), became the reigning Sovereign of the Principality of Kaharagia upon its foundation on 16 July 2010. His establishment of the state was a bold expression of the right to self-determination, embodying the enduring aspiration for sovereign governance among self-constituted nations.
Educated in public schools, Prince Maximilian has long cultivated a passion for History and Religious Studies. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in History and a second Master's degree in Education. His academic interests continue to inform his leadership and vision for Kaharagia's civic and cultural life.
His Royal Highness is presently unmarried and without issue. In accordance with the laws of succession, the heir presumptive is his aunt, Her Royal Highness Princess Gloria. This designation remains provisional and shall be superseded by any legitimate offspring (adopted or natural) of the Sovereign.
As Head of State and embodiment of national unity, Prince Maximilian exercises wide-ranging constitutional and ceremonial responsibilities. Kaharagian governance is defined by a model of enlightened monarchy, wherein the Sovereign reigns with a deep and ongoing commitment to the well-being of his people.
In the execution of his duties, His Royal Highness is advised by the Council of State, composed of Councillors of State who provide counsel on legislation, policy, and the public interest.
The Prince also serves as the premier representative of Kaharagia in all diplomatic, ceremonial, and national contexts, symbolising the sovereignty and identity of the Principality.
The full formal style of the Sovereign is:
His Royal Highness The Most Noble and Most August Sovereign Prince MAXIMILIAN, By the Grace of God, Prince of Kaharagia, Lord and Protector of the Kaharagians, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera
While this style reflects Kaharagia's monarchical tradition, it is reserved for the most formal occasions. His Royal Highness does not accept or employ foreign noble titles as a matter of principle.
The Prince rarely accepts foreign honours and generally restricts his acceptance to individuals and organisations with whom His Royal Highness has a close friendship.
It should be understood that the Sovereign's acceptance of any honour should not be considered an endorsement of an organisation, individual, or any claim they make.
